The 48RE Transmission, is a 4 speed automatic transmission developed by Chrysler. It is the heaviest duty 4 speed automatic the Chrysler has developed and fit behind the Cummins 5.9L ISB Diesel from 2003-2008. In 2007-2008 the throttle valve linkage was replaced with a TTVA (tranmission throttle valve actuator), making this the first "fly by wire" transmission Chrysler that has made. 48RE's are offered by Moveras with the option to upgrade to a heavy duty billet torque convertor.
