The 47RH Transmission, is a 4 speed automatic transmission developed by Chrysler. This is a heavier duty version of the 46RH, upgraded to handle the higher torque output from the Cummins 5.9L diesel. This transmission is the hydraulic version of the 47RH, and uses a mechanical governor instead of a governor solenoid. The transmission was adapted to become a 4 speed transmission by including an overdrive assembly within what would normally be an extension or tail housing.
