The 46RE Transmission, also known as a 518/A518 is a 4 speed automatic transmission developed by Chrysler. It is the electronic version of the 46RH, which replaced the mechanical governor and throttle valve with solenoids in the valve body. The transmission was adapted to become a 4 speed transmission by including an overdrive assembly within what would normally be an extension or tail housing.
