The 42RH Transmission is a 4 speed automatic transmissions developed by Chrylers. It is also known as a A500. The 42RH is a lighter duty 4 speed transmission for chryslers 3.9L engine. This transmission is the hydraulic version of the 42RE, and uses a mechanical governor instead of a governor solenoid. The transmission was adapted to become a 4 speed transmission by including an overdrive assembly within what would normally be an extension or tail housing.
